A lovely find -
The Ullswater View is a smashing guest house. From the welcome on arrival by Julie (and 2 gorgeous 7 month old puppies) to the really lovely room with stunning views and fantastic food at breakfast, my stay was wonderful. Loved the little extras in the room including a fridge, bath robe and chocolates. Lots of options at breakfast and wonderful homemade bread. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. Will definitely be back.

The place is very nice, full renewed and with a fantastic view. Actually, our booking confirmation sayd we had a room with a mountain view but we could see the ullswater lake as well. I give more than 5 stars to the staff, everyone was friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was delicious (they know how to make the perfect poached eggs). The shower was my favourite part of the room, it was amazing, especially after a long hiking day.I would say the only thing wasn’t brilliant was the WiFi and the TV channel which for some reason we could watch just BBC1. Again, nothing that matters when you go to the Lakes.

Book it - don\'t hesitate -
We stayed here for our final four days of a 5 week holiday. The rooms are beautifully set out with attention to small details. Beds are very comfortable. The setting is glorious, looking across to Ullswater and although on the main road, this does not affect the view nor is there a lot of traffic. We were staying during the school holidays and the location was a welcome relief from the busier areas of the Lakes District.Julie and Gabrielle are wonderful.Nothing is too much trouble and you feel like you are staying in a family home, but with all the privacy you need. Highly recommended.

Perfect Poached Eggs -
Apparently the secret to perfect poached eggs is 'wobble them to check'.This B+B is in a lovely location with views exactly as the name suggests! Breakfast really was good and sensible portions. Very friendly attitude from staff and a well-appointed room. Breakfast time is 8.30 - 9.30 which might not suit the more hyper-active but worked well for us, wanting to catch the first ferry to Howtown/ climb Helvellyn as the fog cleared off the top. You do need to get organised for dinner as the nearest place to this B+B is ridiculously pricy and the next-nearest booked up in advance - and it is a fair drive to Glenridding. An honesty bar is a nice touch, leaving guests free to enjoy the conservatory in peace and comfort.

Loverly room, loverly location, friendly staff -
What is there not to like. We spent the August bank holiday weekend here. We stayed in a great room providing views of the Cumbrian fells and Ullswater. The room included a big whirlpool bath as well as the usual shower and facilities. The bath was in the bedroom so you don't feel shut away and is very well designed. We found the room quite, when the window was closed, and comfortable. The staff could not do enough to make our stay memorable. We have stayed before around Windermere so it was nice getting a different perspective on the Lakes. There are some enjoyable walks nearby. We recommend driving to Pooley Bridge and walking to Howtown across the fells then taking the steamer back. Alternatively, there is a great walk around Hallin Fell just across the lake. If you are not into walking drive down to Ambleside over Kirkstone Pass (the return offers the best views!). All in all a relaxing stay with no issues at all. Breakfast was great by the way!

A lovely comfortable homely feel. Julie and her team could not have been more accommodating.Only slight irritation was the wifi as we just couldn't connect, but that was explained in the guest info and the area had a lot to do with it, and not everyone is as wifi needy as us! We stayed based on location, as we're walkers.Whilst the hotel isn't walking distance to pubs, it's a short drive to lovely ones. The breakfast was fantastic and the service was as you would want and more, accommodating requests when we forgot this and that.I would recommend the Ullswater view without hesitation.Awesome breakfast, best sausage &bacon we've had in a long time.

Excellent room and service in a beautiful location -
This guest house is a charming gem in the lakes. The service received was 5 star from start to finish. We were able to access our room from 12pm on the day of arrival despite the time on the booking confirmation saying 4pm which was much appreciated. The room was modern and stylish with a lake view, extra large double bed, a TV and lovely en suite. It also came with a assortment of hot drinks which was a nice touch.Breakfast was by far the best breakfast I have had at a hotel/b&b/guest house. It was all locally sourced produce that was of a great quality and was delicious and included in the room price. The lady who served our breakfast offered a great service was very friendly and only too happy to offer her expertise and advice of the area. The location is beautiful albeit slightly remote but was perfect for what we wanted. It was a 20 minute drive from a spa we visited on the Saturday and a 3/4 minute drive to aira force waterfalls where we went for a walk on the Sunday. This is a beautiful walk up past lovely waterfalls with a fantastic view of the mountains and lakes at the top.Overall it was a lovely stay and great weekend and I would recommend the ullswater view to all.

Hi,We stopped here as a quick getaway, away from any human contact, after our wedding the previous day, and it was perfect. We walked in and were greeted not by people, but by two gorgeous little dogs who couldn't be more friendly. Our paperwork and key was left on the side ready for us to check ourselves in, and we were left pretty much to ourselves the whole evening. We didn't see another soul until the morning after, when we were served a lovely cooked breakfast, which tasted excellent. Honestly couldn't fault the stay - loved it!Best wishes, Rachael

Lovely, friendly small guest house. Really enjoyed our stay, and the breakfast was lovely. The owner gave us a lift into Pooley Bridge in the evening, where there are 3 lovely pubs, had a really nice meal in the sun inn. We would definitely stay again. Only gripe I have is not with Ullswater view, but the taxi driver on the way back tried to charge us £20, when he had the monitor on £16 before we even got in, so be careful!

GOOD CHOICE -
Stayed for one night on a business trip. The room could not be faulted, very tastefully decorated and very clean and the en-suite bathroom was very stylish. Although breakfast started at 08-30, because of a problem I had I asked Julie if it was possible to start it earlier and we were served promptly at 08-00 and an excellent breakfast it was too. Full English and totally grease free ( don't know how she did it ). The bonus is, if I find myself in the area again I don't have to search for accommodation, I will just book in at the Ullswater View. Thanks for a lovely night J.

Excellent value B&B -
We were very pleased with our stay. The Ullswater View was easy to find on the banks of Ullswater. The room was a good size, and the bed large and comfortable. The room and bathroom had been recently refurbished and had all the amenities we required.Appreciated the biscuit top up each day and the filter coffee, as well as the chocolates on the pillow.Would have liked a bath as well as a shower, but it was clear upon booking that the room had no bath. The food at breakfast was excellent, and the service friendly, although we would have preferred orders for cooked breakfasts to have been taken sooner, as breakfast did take rather a long time (which can be a little frustrating when you are itching to get out walking and know daylight hours are against you from the start!).We felt that the Winter Warmer offer was excellent value, and would recommend The Ullswater View.

A welcoming time -
We were given a hot drink after settling in and a personal set of recommendations. We were trusted to help ourselves to drinks from the bar and note what we imbibed on an honesty pad.We had nothing, but we were delighted with the openness of the proprietor. The room we had included a hot tub, from which it was possible to view the Ullswater Fells. The room was spacious indeed and very comfortable. However, some written instructions to back up the oral version would be helpful to any like us who have no experience of such delightsome features.Breakfast is wholesome - no complaints. The fruit-bread is delicious:a pleasing contrast with other establishments' fare.We experienced a warm, welcoming, friendly, trusting, helpful stay.We should like to return for longer in future, if feasible, and risk the "complexities"of the hot tub, if we were ever accommodated in the sole room which houses it.

Only just come back, having stayed for 2 nights 19th and 20th July 2013.Julie was the perfect host - she welcomed us with a cup of tea, which we had outside on the table and chairs overlooking the lake.We had problems with our mobile when we were trying to book a table at a local restaurant but Julie took over and made the booking for us, which we thought was a really nice thing to do.The room was super, really nice, clean bed linen and the bed was so, so comfortable. Breakfast was really good - all the usual things that you would expect, and piping hot.Nothing was too much trouble for Julie and her staff and very friendly and helpful.I would have no hesitation in recommending The Ullswater View and would certainly be going there again.

The ullswater view is a beautiful hotel with excellent attention to detail!! We stayed in the room with the whirlpool bath which was fantastic especially after a long day walking or shopping in my case!!! The room was well equiped far more than i expected with the ipod docking station being a nice extra touch. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and we could not of asked for more. Breakfast was also beautiful and you could tell everything was home made or locally produced even down to the jams!! A fantastic stay and I'm now highly recommending it to all my friends....thank you.

Great Value and nice people. -
A nice location with lovely views of Ullswater, good quality, comfortable rooms and great breakfasts. There is a small bar albeit with no draft beers, but the owners go out of their way to look after guests' needs. We had the optional evening meal one night. This was home cooking and nothing grand but very adequate for our first night, when we didn't want to go out after the long journey to the Lakes. Some may find it a bit isolated with the nearest pub 1.5 miles away and little in the way of entertainment or eating options, but if you want a good value place to stay and your main entertainment is fell walking, it's great.Julie and her team are very welcoming and friendly and knowledgable about local walking options.

A perfect start to the day -
The Ullswater View can certainly boast a lot more than the admittedly glorious view of the water with muntains behind. The rooms are modern, tasteful and clean. Everything has the ring of quality;showers, towels, chocolates, biscuits, tv etc. A wonderful warm landlady, with great staff. And best of all a superb breakfast, again reeking of quality, with wonderful local bacon (it knocks supermarket bacon into a cocked hat) and home made bread, try the delicious eggs benedict. A five star breakfast from a five star guest house. I have already returned twice, and will do so again very soon.

Lovely stay -
I chose the Ullswater View as the location for my boyfriend's 40th surprise birthday mini break, after reading the super reviews...I wasn't disappointed. After a particularly unpleasant drive up, through wintery conditions I was looking forward to relaxing. The owners son greeted us, showed us to our room and made us a pot of tea to enjoy in the conservatory. Very nice! The room was very clean and modern with a beautiful view down the valley and a glimpse of the lake below the snow capped hills. The guest information, in the room, gave some details about local restaurants and walks around the lake. My only suggestion is that information about breakfast, the use of the bar area etc. would have been useful as we had to ask.The breakfast was very tasty and they offered a variety of meals, cereals etc. We didn't feel rushed and the welcome was nice, accompanied by lovely views and chilled music.Overall a wonderful stay and one I hope we will repeat later in the year. Thank you.

2-DAY BREAK. -
Nicely positioned on the lake side. Due to the trees growing over the years, they just tend to block out what must have been a truelly wonderful view just afew years ago.Don't get me wrong, it is still a typical lake district view of the fells in the background.Ullswater view is a value for money stay with the modern bedrooms and facility's. Stayed in lots of places over the years, but the shower was the best i have ever used with space to turn without breaking your arm....brilliant!!!The bed was so comfy and spacious. The breakfast was so well cooked and presented with no fault's at all......Yummy!!!!!We really enjoyed our one night stay and would certainly go back. Welcome Break in a hectic schedule -
The Ullswater View Guest House was a very pleasant break in a hectic schedule. Friendly welcome on arrival and offer of complimentary tea or coffee was a great start. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating, I even took the unusual step of ordering a packed lunch the next day. Lovely meal and great wine at very reasonable prices. The room was very nice and the view was excellent, as was the comfy bed. The entrance hall (paint stained carpet) the tricky old shower and the carpeted bathroom floor were minor irritations but I had the distinct impression that there was a refurbishment on the go and that other rooms may have been more up to date. (I was in Room 4) These were minor points and my overall impression was still 10 out of 10.I would certainly stay again.

This was our second time visiting the B&B after a very nice first experience... The service and food quality were equally as good as the views you'll be having there... Can't wait for our next visit!

FANTASTIC - PEACEFUL - STUNNING -
Just returned after a five day break and I can only describe the location of this fantastic guest house as stunning, with accommodation and food to match. Our room was the 'Watendlath' which is an ultra modern double, with very large bed and complete with bathrobes and slippers. Despite our late arrival, and the chef having left for the day, we were greeted by the owner (Julie) who promptly opened the kitchen and made us a lovely supper.During our stay we dined at the hotel on four occasions sampling most of the menu between between us' and I can honestly say the food was on a par with most 5 star hotels we have stayed in. The staff are also some of the most friendly people we have come across for a very long time. Our only regret was that we had to leave due to the hotel being fully booked. The owner has done a fantastic job of refurbishing the rooms and we can't wait to return. Special thanks to Julie, Kim and Matt.

Fantastic stay -
We recently stayed two nights at the Ullswater View for our 5 year anniversary. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room had a beautiful view of the lake. We also tried their new dinner service menu and had an excellent meal! The food was beautifully presented and innovative-- we ate fresh mushroom soup that wasn't creamy, goat cheese salad, tuna steaks over perfectly cooked pak choi, and a baked vegetable pastry that was a huge. Much better than the pub food that we also tried nearby.

Lovely and peaceful! -
We stayed in the family room which was absolutely perfect for us and our 2 young children. The boys loved the bunk beds and were extremely chuffed to have their own television! We were chuffed too, as it meant we got to have a relaxing start to our mornings! Breakfast was good, cooked with good quality ingredients. Thanks for a lovely stay!
